The Later Years

Della's Recollections

"Danny was very lucky. He probably could have stayed home during the War but he was determined to go to sea. There were plenty of bad things that happened just before or after he was at some particular place. Lots of people got hurt and killed, but he was always in the right place at the right time. He did some crazy things that could have got him hurt or worse, but he was lucky because God was taking care of him for some reason. He has had all these heart problems. He shouldn't have lived this long except that for some reason he was meant to. Danny has always said that he led a charmed life and I think that he has. I believe that the good Lord was looking after him. "
