Rudolf J. Nelson, husband of Rose Traverso, in uniform of the Galveston Wharves Police. He became captain of the City of Galveston Wharves Police Dept. in 1961.

Rose Traverso with Uncle Louie Bunde. Late 1940's. Rose was orphaned at a young age and she was raised by her mother's sister, Annie Sheppard, and her husband Louis Bunde. Rose lived with her aunt until Annie died. When she married Rudolph Nelson they lived with the Louie and Annie Bunde.

Rose Emily Traverso

Rose Emily Traverso who married Rudolph Nelson pictured here a widow. She is pictured in her house at 4824 Avenue O. The University of Texas Medical Branch expanded and in 1965 forced Annie Bunde to sell the house at 911 Avenue C where she and her husband, Louis, had lived for more than 60 years and the house where Rose Traverso grew up and her and her husband lived until the sale. Then Rudolph and Rose bought the house on Avenue O where they lived with Aunt Annie. 1982 was a difficult year for Rose, as her aunt, Anna Sheppard Bunde died January 1, 1982 followed by her husband's death the following September 13, 1982. Rose continued to live at 4824 Avenue O until her death on January 4, 2001. She had only one immediate relative during this period, Danny Traverso, Jr., her nephew. She also remained close to cousins on the Sheppard side of the family.
